It's April 16, right?
A couple of days ago, after raking my yard and getting it ready for spring, I heard the weather forecast for Friday. Chance of snow? Chance of snow?
Not wanting to believe it, I dismissed the news. It was easy to do. It was 63 degrees and sunny. But it began snowing like crazy a couple of minutes ago. That Mother Nature sure has a strange sense of humor. Yes, we need precipitation. Local rivers like the Merrimack are woefully low. But it's the third week of April. Can't we get a soaking of rain without the white stuff?
I like winter. I like snow. I love how the woods behind my house look after a snow storm. But it's closer to May than it is March at this point. It's time to embrace 70-degree temperatures for two to three weeks before summer's heat rolls in.
It's time to golf, not cross country ski.
When I began writing this blog item, my grass was still green. Now it's covered. We're not really going to have to shovel later today, are we?
Yeah, it's New England. Yeah, the weather can change quickly. We should enjoy nature's beauty since it's likely this is our last snow until November. Blah, blah, blah.
But it's hard to get excited for snow when it's April 16 and the Red Sox have already played 13 games.
