Pebble is a rock star

Talk about a bucket list item.

Watching the final round of the PGA Tour event brings back pleasant memories. Pebble Beach, the mecca of golf courses. In June 2016, we brought the California course to its knees.

Actually, just my nephew Patrick, who shot a 79, did. My father, brother Tommy and I had our moments. What a thrill to be there. We didn't get sunny conditions, it was raw, and we finished in near darkness, but to play Pebble Beach was the thrill of a lifetime.

The leaders, including Jordan Spieth, just teed off from the famous seventh hole. Just a touch over 100 yards, it's a knee-knocker. The winds were whipping, the Pacific Ocean was raging, and our hearts were racing. But all four of us put it on the green, two-putted and left with pars. Not bad for the Scanlon clan. It's a blast taking a journey down memory lane as the best players in the world are walking the same ground we once did.

In life, few things live up to the hype. Pebble Beach was one of them.
