When life gets back to normal post-pandemic, there's plenty of things I'd love to do.
Travel, particularly back to England. Make return trips to the cinema. There's nothing like a movie on the big screen. Attend a sporting event.
But the number one thing on my list is live music. The energy of a crowd. The relationship between band and audience. There's nothing like it. Live music can unite strangers, can lift spirits.
And, man, we need our spirits lifted now.
Nobody lifts my spirits like Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. I've seen Springsteen in concert 70 times. I've seen him in three countries, in eight states, and in 20 venues. I've seen him bring 90,000 fans out of their seats at Wembley Stadium in England and shake the foundation of the old RFK Stadium in Philadelphia.
Stadium shows. Arena shows.
I've also seen when he performed solo before less than 3,000 fans. The longest show I saw him and the band perform was 4 hours and 6 minutes at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.
No one works a crowd like the Boss and no one gives more to an audience.
Next year, I intend to see Springsteen and The E Street Band live. More than once. He's not getting any younger. I'm sure as hell not.
He's been known to yell "Is there anybody alive out there?" to further fire up a crowd. Yeah, Bruce. We're still here. And we're ready to rock.
See you next year.
