From Lowell to the NBA

Terance Mann grew up in Lowell, considers himself a Lowell guy, even though he didn't attend Lowell High.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard has had a memorable week playing for one of the NBA's true powers, the Los Angeles Clippers. A former Florida State star, Mann has averaged 7.5 points per game during the Clippers' four-game road trip. He's averaged 22 minutes of playing time on the trip, which continues Tuesday at Brooklyn.

Mann started games Tuesday at Atlanta and Thursday at Miami. He had 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals vs. Atlanta, and then tallied 12 points vs. Miami, when Los Angeles was shorthanded. The Clippers have won 10 of 11.

Mann was taken by the Clippers with the 48th pick of the 2019 NBA Draft. Another Lowell native, Alex Oriakhi, was also selected in the NBA Draft in recent years. Oriakhi, who led UConn to a national title, went 57th to Phoenix in 2013. But Oriakhi never made an NBA roster. Like Mann, Oriakhi never played for Lowell High. A shame for Red Raiders fans.
